Looking for a meaningful family Christmas tradition this year? Start a Jesse Tree for advent! This has been our family’s favorite tradition over the years.
What is a Jesse Tree? From Isaiah 11:1-3, The Jesse Tree is a way of telling the story of God’s plan from the beginning of time to redeem His people by sending a Savior. It follows the lineage of Christ’s family and key people in the Old Testament that God uses to tell His story from Creation through Christ’s birth. It is a countdown daily to Christmas with the telling of a story, and an ornament that acts as a symbol and visual reminder of the story.
There are so many ways to start this tradition. Here are a few links to get you started.
The 4th-5th grade and the 10th grade Equip groups will be meeting this Thursday, November 29. See the meeting information button below for details.
All parents are welcome even if your children are in different grades!
If you would like further information, please contact either your grade-level leader or Kari McCabe at email@example.com.
A team of seven USCO staff members will be traveling to Tabitha in late November to spend time with Carol and her family, bless the staff with a special meal and time of spiritual refreshment, and celebrate the end of year graduation with the children. The staff members are covering their own costs for the trip. As our school seeks to come alongside and care for Carol and Tabitha during this season of healing after the death of Carol’s son, we are praying for additional funds to cover the expenses of these events:
- Graduation celebration and meal for Tabitha children ($300)
- Tabitha staff meal and spiritual retreat ($800)
- Day retreat with Carol and her family ($300)
If you would be interested in donating towards any of these activities, you can give on the school “Give” web page or via the button below. Please indicate which specific event in the “Specific Project” line.

“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.” …..—A. T. Pierson
Prayer is the most essential work of our ministry and fruitfulness to God. Come join us as we praise God for His excellence and ask for His mighty hand to lead this school and change hearts for all of eternity. Without prayer, our work is arrogant and will only bear bad fruit (John 15:5). Let us humbly and diligently seek and come together in one accord and do the greatest thing we can do––pray.
The elementary grades will be meeting for chapel this week for a time of worship and prayer for Tabitha and our staff. For further information, please see the email from Julie Drago which parents should have received on Wednesday.
Don’t forget to send your children in outdoor recess gear as the weather turns colder.
We are starting our hearing screenings at the elementary this week. As we complete a screening, we will send home a sheet indicating whether your child passed or needs follow-up. If a follow-up is indicated, start with your regular pediatrician. Our hearing screening is just that, a screening, for any issues that could impact your child’s hearing. Many times wax build-up is an issue that can impact hearing in a significant way.
If you end up needing to see an audiologist, I would recommend going to the Children’s Hospital Audiology clinic here in Colorado Springs at Briargate. In my experience as a Teacher of the Deaf, this clinic is the best suited for pediatric needs and follow-up. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for any information or resources, we are here to assist you.
