Prayer Request UPDATED: Daniel Giffin

Thank you so much for your ongoing prayers for Daniel Giffin and his family!

After completing his treatment, he was back at school last week!  The tests he will have in about a month will determine any next steps needed for further treatment.  Pray that they all come back showing him with no cancer!  In the meantime, he got to take a special tour of the Air Force Academy yesterday. The pictures above are from that fun experience.  Here is a note from Torie, his mom, regarding some ways we can join with them:

Dear friends, some other wonderful friends of mine have organized a day to help me spruce up the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort for the season. It’s also Motorless Morning at Garden of the Gods and you can park and ride from here and come for one or both events. It’ll be a fun day of community building and enjoying the great outdoors. If you’re volunteering for our Tom Sawyer Day April 20, 2019 be sure to click the button below and sign up for a 2 hour shift on our google doc.

Prayer Request UPDATED: Schafer Reichart

Thank you for your continuing prayers for Schafer!  Here is an update written by his mother from the “Schafer Updates” Facebook page:

We thank God for another good and busy week this last week for Schafer !
Monday– Took and passed his drivers test! His original appointment was Jan 23rd!! (Day 1 where he was life flighted to Children’s). Needless to say we finally felt he was ready to give it a go. He is super pumped !

PT continues to go very well and his muscles are developing and coming back!! It’s good to see some meat on those bones!  Pray for his endurance to get back to where he can run again…. hoping that comes back fully in the months ahead.

Tuesday-Speech Therapy checkin. voice is good and swallowing is going well and he continues to manage small swallows so nothing slips passed and into the lungs. We don’t even have to remind him to do this , it’s a way of life now.
Nutrition appt gave us good news to cut the continuous feeding tube time to 8 hours a night! His intake by mouth is better for sure and he is using an app to record all his food intake.
He weighed in at 131!!! Up 4-5 pounds again from the week before!! Keeping up with hi calorie shakes!

Wednesday-Cardiology followup. He had his first Echocardiogram and EKG since being home from the hospital. So thankful the Lord has healed his heart functions to be in the “normal” range!! Don’t have to check again for 6 months!!

Thursday-Physical Therapy. He drove himself there ! 😬
The last finger we have been waiting to heal finally decided to lose the nail! Continually amazed how God chose to not only spare his life but ALL his extremities as well from the effects of the flu.

Friday-Weekly blood check. His blood thinner meds are doing their job and levels are good!!

We so appreciate your continued prayers and encouragement ! It is so amazing when we get to talk to people on this side of everything, and how God has healed Schafer so miraculously and is fully restoring him one piece at a time!!

Morning Prayer Meeting (Everyone Invited!) - Every Tuesday

7:45 – 8:15 in the Chapel

“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.”—A. T. Pierson

Prayer is the most essential work of our ministry and fruitfulness to God. Come join us as we praise God for His excellence and ask for His mighty hand to lead this school and change hearts for all of eternity. Without prayer, our work is arrogant and will only bear bad fruit (John 15:5).  Let us humbly and diligently seek and come together in one accord and do the greatest thing we can do––pray.

5th Grade Parents Meeting - Apr 24

Hello parents of upcoming 6th graders,

We hope that your students are as excited as we are to welcome them into the Secondary program this next fall.  We know that many of you have numerous questions about how next year will look.  Next Wednesday the 24th at 4pm in the Chapel, we would like to host an information and introduction meeting.  Our intention is to give a broad introduction to Secondary, and particularly 6th grade.  We understand that this is a key transition year, not only for your students but for also many of our families.  Our hope is to help answer general questions, and bring an excitement to next year’s opportunities.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, in the fall our 6th grade teachers will host a more in depth meeting that covers many of the aspects of their classes.

Hope to see you there,

Jake Busby –

The 5th grade has begun our art mural legacy project! The class has chosen to duplicate the school logo in bottle caps.

-They will be using permanent paint, so please have your student dress accordingly.

-They are using low-heat hot glue guns. I have about 8 pairs of work gloves but if you happen to have some extra; we could use them this week.

-Also, If you have some hot glue sticks laying around that you will not be using, we could definitely use them.

Praying that it turns out amazing,

Mrs. Clarkson

On Thursday, April 11, the 5th grade held their annual competition called, The Amazing Shake. The focus of this contest was learning how to give a good handshake, look people in the eyes, and while smiling ask interesting questions or respond to various situations. They had 15 stations, judged by 15 professionals from around our city. The various stations included interview questions, accepting awards, ordering at Chick-Fil-A, taking a phone message and other situations that we find ourselves in our every day lives. The students did a great job, showing confidence, poise and creative answers. This year’s winner was Bella Fletcher. As her prize, she will be on Fox 21 News soon as the meteorologist!!!
